Bonnier Books Danmark has entered into an agreement to acquire Jentas Books, a Copenhagen-based publishing house focused on commercial fiction and digital publishing. The acquisition strengthens Bonnier Books Danmark’s position in the Danish book market and creates new opportunities for growth and collaboration across the Nordic region.

– We are delighted to welcome Jentas Books to Bonnier Books Danmark. Jentas has built an impressive publishing business with a clear focus, a strong entrepreneurial spirit and deep expertise in commercial fiction. The acquisition strengthens our position in Danmark and adds expertise, authors and publishing activities that complement the work already being carried out at Gutkind and Alpha. At the same time, it creates exciting opportunities for closer collaboration across the Nordic markets, says Jesper Monthan, CEO of Bonnier Books Danmark.

Jentas was founded in Copenhagen in 1999 and has established itself as a leading digital-first publisher with a particular focus on commercial fiction, including crime fiction, thrillers and popular fiction. By combining strong editorial expertise with a scalable digital business model, the company has built a growing catalogue and a broad readership across multiple formats and markets.
For many years, Jentas has developed a successful publishing model with particular strength in audiobooks and e-books. The acquisition creates new opportunities to combine Jentas’s digital expertise with Bonnier Books Danmark’s long-term commitment to authors, publishing and reading.

– We are proud of what we have built at Jentas. Our ambition has always been to connect powerful stories with readers and to develop authorships across different formats and markets. Becoming part of Bonnier Books Danmark gives us a strong, long-term home and new opportunities to continue growing, while retaining the entrepreneurial drive and publishing focus that have shaped our journey, says Egill Arnarsson, CEO of Jentas Books.

Jentas will continue to operate from Copenhagen and retain its distinct publishing profile. The publishing house will become part of Bonnier Books Danmark, while continuing to focus on commercial fiction and digital publishing.

– The Danish book market is characterised by strong publishing traditions, talented authors and ambitious, independent publishing houses. Jentas is an excellent example of this. Together, we will be even better positioned to develop authorships, reach readers in different formats and strengthen our operations in both Denmark and the Nordic region. At the same time, Jentas will continue to operate as an independent publishing house with its own distinct profile, says Jesper Monthán.

The parties have agreed not to disclose the purchase price.
